Cypress Landing Residents — Let’s Work Together!
We need your help to protect our family pets, our community, and the feral cats in Cypress Landing. The feral cat population has grown significantly, and easily accessible food sources are drawing coyotes into our neighborhood streets. This creates a real safety concern for everyone. Coyotes are opportunistic predators, small pets can be at risk during walks or even in their own yards. Reducing the feral cat population through responsible, humane management helps decrease the attractants that keep coyotes returning to residential areas.
By preventing feral cats from breeding and avoiding unmanaged feeding, we can:
This is a shared responsibility, and small changes can make a meaningful difference. Together, we can protect the animals we love and keep Cypress Landing a safe place for everyone. Reach out to me to learn how you can help TNR.
A feral cat is not the same thing as wildlife. It is not the cat's fault that a human did not do the right thing a long time ago. Unfortunately, people continue to allow their unfixed cats outside, further complicating the feral population. To help manage this issue, pet care services can play a vital role by educating pet owners about responsible pet sitting and the importance of keeping their pets indoors, especially in areas like Orlando where a pet sitter can provide the necessary care.
The cat in the above picture has had her ear 'tipped' as part of a TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) program early in her life. Now, my sweet Phiona gives me the sweetest purrs and even kisses my dog on the head every night before bed. Many feral cats, like her, can eventually become loving house pets, while others prefer to stay feral. It's important to be patient and respect the cat if it establishes boundaries with you. If you see a cat with the tip of one ear missing, it indicates that this cat has already been trapped, spayed/neutered, and released, often as part of pet care services. Please do not attempt to trap them. If you accidentally do trap them, just let them go. Ear-tipped cats are usually part of a managed colony or have received care from someone. As a responsible pet sitter in Orlando or pet sitting provider, let’s keep them safe and respect the work that’s already been done!
