Through my fostering with Orange County Animal Shelter, I bring home many kittens. Some kittens are almost ready to be spayed/neutered and then adopted, some need socialization before they will be good pets, some need more time nursing with mom, some need to be bottle fed, whatever the reason, if you are looking for a kitten or a specific type of kitten, chances are I will have one or know a foster that does. Let me know what you are looking for with this link, (CLICK HERE) and I will be in touch. ALL* kitten adoptions go through OCAS. The kitten will have its shots and be spayed/neutered before giving it to you.
*The only time I am willing to adopt a kitten out without involving OCAS, is if you pay for shots & spay/neuter at Grand Oaks Pet Hospital. I will never release an unaltered kitten to anyone.
Although Orange County Animal Shelter often has kittens available, in my opinion, adopting a kitten that has been fostered usually means bringing home a more confident, friendly, and adaptable pet. Foster families provide daily, hands-on care in a home environment. Being regularly handled, played with, and exposed to everyday household sights and sounds helps kittens adjust much faster to new homes. Shelter kittens can certainly be wonderful too, but foster care often gives them an extra edge in socialization, especially during those critical early weeks.
Kindness for Cats and Candy's Cats have regular adoption events. Click to see what they are currently offering!
Wait Till 8 through OCAS
If you find a litter of kittens, the first instinct is to take them inside. STOP PLEASE! Mom may have just gone to look for food and will be back. If the situation is dangerous, mom has not been back in twenty-four hours, or kittens look unwell - you can surrender them to Orange County Animal Shelter (if you live in Orange County). OCAS will reach out to find fosters if the kittens are under two pounds which is about eight weeks old. The sad part about this open admission shelter is, kittens without fosters under 2 pounds/8 weeks old if not picked up by a foster, are euthanized at the end of the day. The way you can prevent a wasted life is to bring the kittens and even mom if you can safely catch her, to OCAS and register them through the Wait till 8 program. CLICK HERE FOR DETAILS.
You would take care of the cats until they are old enough to be spayed/neutered and then put up for adoption.
